Learning, Collaboration and a Step Towards Change
It was a privilege to be a part of the Financial Literacy and Food Literacy Workshop organised by the Good Schools Alliance (GSA) at Taurian World School, Ranchi. For me, the workshop was not just another professional engagement; it was an opportunity to learn, share experiences and connect with educators who are equally committed to bringing meaningful change through education.
I sincerely appreciate GSA's vision in creating such platforms where teachers and educationists can learn directly from experienced professionals. The sessions on financial and food literacy were extremely relevant to the needs of our students and society today. They gave us practical insights that we can carry back to our schools and share with our students.
My heartfelt gratitude to Mr Sandeep Dutt and Ms Amrita Burman for bringing educators together and giving us this valuable opportunity to learn and collaborate. I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of Mr Surya Kant Sharma, Senior Consultant, Association of Mutual Funds in India, and Mr Divyanshu Prakash, Deputy Manager, Eastern Region, FSSAI. Their knowledge, clarity and practical approach made both sessions highly engaging and useful.
My sincere thanks to Mr Gautam Choudhary, Executive Director, Taurian World School, for warmly hosting the workshop and providing such a conducive environment for learning and interaction. I also appreciate Mr Kunal Rajpurohit for taking care of the arrangements and ensuring that everything required for the workshop was well managed.
Such initiatives remind us that education extends far beyond classrooms and textbooks. Financial awareness, responsible food choices and informed decision-making are life skills that every child should develop. I am glad to have been part of an initiative that advances this thought.

Shiksha Kendra Investiture Ceremony, where we honour our accomplished ex-students with grants for their higher studies. Celebrate their achievements and support their future endeavours!
On August 11, 2026, we visited Shiksha Kendra at DPS Sector 45, Gurugram. Shiksha Kendra is a prominent, socially responsible initiative directly run on-campus by Delhi Public School (DPS), Sector 45, Gurugram.🤝
The passing-out batch of 2026 received their grant letters for admissions into colleges for higher studies. Dr Aditi Misra requested Sandeep Dutt to distribute the grant letters and invite the students to participate in the Good Schools Alliance Internship Program.
The Relationship Explained
The Concept: It is an on-campus afternoon school specifically designed for underprivileged children from surrounding communities who lack access to formal education.
Timeline & Impact: Established in 2003 with just 50 students, the initiative has massively scaled up under the institutional leadership of the DPS Gurgaon administration. Today, it provides non-formal, primary, and secondary education, resources, and meals to around 2,200 children.
Resource Sharing: Students enrolled in Shiksha Kendra utilise the main school’s physical infrastructure, including classrooms and grounds, during the afternoon shift. Regular mainstream students from DPS Sector 45 also regularly interact with Shiksha Kendra through social internships, book donation drives, and collective community events.

We warmly welcome Dr Aditi Misra as a member of the Board of Directors of the Learning Forward India Foundation. Dr Aditi Misra is a highly distinguished Indian educator and Director of Delhi Public School (DPS), Sector 45, Gurgaon. She was conferred the prestigious Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa, by Wesleyan College in May 2026. An alumnus of DPS R.K. Puram and Lady Shri Ram College (LSR). She has been a career educator since 1985. Dr Aditi Misra founded Shiksha Kendra in 2002 to educate underprivileged children. She is a widely respected voice on student mental health, social anxiety, and inclusive educational leadership.
BOOKS OF THE WEEK

The Teachers Academy: Every Saturday 3:30 PM
Quick recap: The meeting was the concluding session of the Good Schools Alliance’s book reading group, focused on the book “Wanted Back-bencher and Last-ranker Teacher” by Kavita Ghosh. Brinda and Sandeep Dutt led the discussion, with participants sharing their reflections on the book and its impact on their teaching practices. The group read the final chapter, which detailed Roma’s emotional farewell from the school and her decision to remain a teacher despite lucrative job offers. Participants Sunita and Manjula shared how the book influenced their understanding of student-teacher relationships and classroom dynamics. Sandeep Dutt discussed plans to compile and publish the teachers’ reflections and mentioned the next book for reading, “Educated” by Dr Tara Westover. The session concluded with wishes for Independence Day and gratitude for the journey through the book.
Emerging Literacies Masterclass: Every Saturday at 5:30 PM
Quick recap: This was a Masterclass on Emerging Literacies led by Sandeep Dutt, where participants discussed Chapter 3 of Yuval Noah Harari’s book “21 Lessons for the 21st Century,” focusing on the concept of liberty in the age of big data. Sandeep Dutt explained how liberalism traditionally values individual freedom and free will, but warned that biotechnology and computing power are creating new forms of authority that could eventually surpass human decision-making. The session introduced a key formula (b × c × d = ahh) that represents the intersection of biological knowledge, computing power, and data, enabling the hacking of human decisions. Participants, including Gurdeep from DPS Sector 45, Gurgaon, discussed how big data is already influencing daily life through applications such as Google searches, healthcare monitoring, and entertainment recommendations, raising important questions about personal freedom and the future of human agency in a data-driven world.
My Good School: Every Sunday 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM
The Sunday morning reading session at My Good School continued with Gerald Durrell’s “My Family and Other Animals,” with Brinda Ma’am reading passages about Gerald’s new tutor, Kralewski, an ornithologist who studies birds. The session included discussions about the importance of language learning through listening and reading, with Sandeep Sir emphasising that participants should focus on concentration and deep thinking rather than typing in chat boxes. Manisha Ma’am explained the purpose of the Joy of Learning Diaries, in which students can write reflections after reading sessions, and Jugjiv Sir shared updates on visiting DPS Shiksha Kendra and discussions with Rupa Publications about publishing teachers’ writings. The session concluded with Maira reading a reflection on self-discovery and the importance of understanding one’s strengths and weaknesses, followed by discussions of Japanese culture and religion. The session concluded with a reading from Ruskin Bond’s book Time Stops at Shamli in Hindi.

Learning with Joy - PYDS Learning Academy
PYDS Learning Academy shares a delightful reflection on Sunday School, where learning goes beyond textbooks and becomes an experience filled with curiosity, participation, and joy. The students look forward to each session, enjoying stories, discussions, activities, and opportunities to share their thoughts.
Sunday School shows that meaningful learning can be fun and engaging. Through interactive sessions, students develop vocabulary, confidence, thinking skills, and the habit of reflection. It is a space where children learn together, express themselves freely, and discover that every lesson can bring a new idea, question, or insight.
The reflection beautifully captures the spirit of joyful learning—when children enjoy learning, they learn with greater curiosity, confidence, and purpose.
